HARLOW TOWN 2 ENFIELD TOWN 0 Pre-Season Friendly 11-08-07

Pre-season friendly 11/08/07
Match report by BILLY SHAW

A SOLID win over Enfield Town was overshadowed for the Hawks when goalkeeper James Hasell was forced off through injury in the first half, just seven days before the start of the side’s Ryman Premier Division campaign.
Harlow Town’s number one suffered a thumb injury when he saved a penalty from Rudi Hall in the 14th minute, and despite playing on for a period of the half, was replaced by Harlow Town Reserves’ stopper Michael Dumoulin on 29 minutes.
Ryan Kirby’s men battled well throughout, despite some stiff challenges from the visitors, as well as several scuffles between opposing midfielders, which resulted in two players from either side receiving cautions.
Mark Taylor conceded a penalty just before the quarter-hour mark when he brought down Paul Campbell in the area.
Rudi Hall’s weak spot kick was saved low by keeper Hasell, but the stopper fell awkwardly and appeared to injure his left thumb.
James Bunn forced a good save from Enfield Town goalkeeper Charlie Hasler on 19 minutes after a quick layoff by Leon Lalite, one minute before Bunn’s long range effort floated just over the bar.
Eighteen-year-old Michael Dumoulin took over Harlow’s goalkeeping duties just prior to the half-hour, and did well to stop a low drive from menacing Enfield Town midfielder Steve Velandia on 35 minutes.
Dumoulin again produced a fine save five minutes before half time to deny Bryan Hammatt.
The latest in a series of minor scuffles resulted in Harlow’s Jordan Fowler and Enfield Town’s Rudi Hall seeing yellow in first half stoppage time, before Dumoulin was again forced to save from Velandia.
James Bunn shot frustratingly wide on 49 minutes having had a clear shot at goal, before Leon Lalite fired Harlow’s opener into the top corner on 51 minutes.
Hasler saved a chip from Bunn on the hour mark, before Leon Lalite clashed with James Dickie in another disagreement, again resulting in both players receiving cautions.
Substitute Danny Green pulled the ball back to Bunn from deep on the left, allowing the striker to cleverly lay off Kenny Davis, who took control of the ball before stroking home Harlow’s second on 72 minutes.
Ricci Crace’s effort didn’t pose any substantial threat to Dumoulin 12 minutes from time, although Richard Georgiou could have finished his impressive solo run better, the substitute eventually pulling a shot wide of the left-hand post.Harlow Tn: James Hasell (sub: Michael Dumoulin, 29), Clark Akers (sub: Tom McGowan, 59), Mark Taylor, Danny Chapman, Lee Miles, Ryan Kirby (sub: Beckett Hollenbach, 72), Leon Lalite, Kenny Davis (sub: Shaun Glidden, 90), James Bunn, Jordan Fowler, Dean Williams (sub: Danny Green, 70).
