HARLOW TOWN 2 STEVENAGE BOROUGH Pre-Season Friendly 4 26-7-07

LEON Antoine opened his account at Barrows Farm with a powerful brace during Harlow Town’s 4-2 home defeat to Stevenage Borough on Thursday.
The striker, who came on for James Bunn at half-time, twice reduced the visitors’ lead to a single goal, but the Blue Square Premier Division side took advantage of Harlow’s tiredness to put the game out of reach.
Junior Dodson went close in the opening moments for Stevenage, curling a delicate shot just wide of keeper James Hasell’s left-hand post, before Kenny Davis charged down an 11th minute shot from former West Ham midfielder Steve Lomas.
Seconds later, Luke Webster’s cross found Paul Hakim, who rifled home on the volley to open the scoring for the visitors.
Borough’s second followed on 14 minutes, Tyrone Sealey finding the net from inside the area after being played in by Dodson.
James Bunn forced a save from Borough stopper Shane Gore on 16 minutes with a low shot after Leon Lalite’s short corner, before having an effort ruled out for offside a minute later having again been fed by Lalite.
Five minutes before half-time, a superb string of passes from Davis, Lalite and Jordan Fowler provided Bunn with a glimpse of goal, but the forward took his time and wasted the opportunity.
Tyrone Sealey pulled a low cross in front of goal on 50 minutes, but the sliding Junior Dodson couldn’t stretch far enough to reach it, and with second half keeper Jackson beaten, the chance went begging.
Danny Green came off the bench for Harlow on 53 minutes and quickly made an impact, latching onto Jordan Fowler’s long ball before firing just over the bar.
With the hosts now pressing to pull a goal back, a 25-yard effort from Kenny Davis rebounded off the bar on 56 minutes and fell kindly for half-time substitute Leon Antoine, but the striker was taken by surprise and scooped wide.
The breakthrough came on 65 minutes as Green latched onto Glenn Jackson’s goal kick before playing Antoine through, who fired confidently past Gore to halve the deficit.
But within three minutes, the visitors had restored the two-goal cushion through Daryl McMahon, who found the net after Dodson crossed from the left.
Alfie Hayes’ high effort forced Gore to make an uncomfortable save 15 minutes from time, before a superb display of energy and resilience from Danny Green led to the Hawks’ second goal.
Green showed brilliant determination to keep possession deep on the right, before hooking a cross into the area, allowing Antoine to powerfully head past Gore’s fingertips into the top corner.
Ryan Kirby had used all of his substitutes by the time Mark Taylor came off as a precautionary measure on 87 minutes, and so the home side played the last three minutes with ten men.
Stevenage made it four on 89 minutes when Jerome Anderson slotted home after keeper Jackson’s spillage.
