JAMES Bunn’s late equalizer ensured the Hawks remain unbeaten in the Ryman premier division after two games.
Clark Akers had given Harlow an early lead, and after Heybridge scored twice before half time, Bunn’s crisp strike presented the hosts with another well deserved point, the match ending all square at 2-2.
Akers started up front alongside Bunn, while Hawks bosses left Dean Williams and Tobi Oshitola, who rejoined Harlow just hours before kick-off, on the bench.
It was Akers who opened the scoring, taking possession inside the box and beating a defender before placing a shot on-the-turn neatly into the bottom corner three minutes in, to net Harlow’s first goal in the premier division.
But Heybridge were level inside three minutes, Sean Marks easily snapping up the opportunity to score at close range after keeper Ian Joyce fatally spilled Matthew Batt’s effort.
Ian Wiles fired over the bar on 11 minutes after Joyce became confused by Lee Miles’ supposed passback, before Stafford Browne went close after dispossessing Danny Chapman on the edge of the box.
Danny Hill forced a save from Heybridge stopper Ollie Morris-Sanders just before the half-hour mark. After some clever build-up play from Kenny Davis, Hill received the ball in the center of midfield, and took his time before unleashing a left-footed shot that was pushed over the bar by Morris-Sanders.
A quick ball in from Mark Taylor saw Akers flash an effort straight at the keeper at the near post on 38 minutes, before Joyce got low to save Browne’s shot for Heybridge a minute later.
Joyce had to be alert to stop close range efforts from both Sean Marks and Craig Hughes as the Hawks aimed to keep the scores level going into the break.
But the visitors put pay to Harlow’s plans in the second minute of first half stoppage time when Stafford Browne headed home from Michael Shinn’s free kick, awarded after Danny Chapman’s foul play, which also earned the Harlow player a yellow card.
Leon Lalite’s speculative volley was well held by Morris-Sanders on 52 minutes, before the Heyrbidge keeper denied the midfield dynamo a second time after a good lay-off from Danny Hill.
Lee Miles joined Chapman in the referee’s notebook on the hour mark after committing a rash challenge on a Heybridge midfielder, before Clark Akers’ scorching run down the left wing forced a corner as the Hawks applied the pressure on 69 minutes.
The first of a pair of overhead kicks by Akers trickled wide on 79 minutes, but the second, which occurred after a well-placed cross from Danny Chapman, forced Morris-Sanders to get low and save eight minutes from time.
The home side finally got their reward for dominating the second period when Kenny Davis’ low ball into the area was rammed into the far bottom corner by James Bunn, beyond the outstretched fingertips of the keeper on 85 minutes.
The goal came seconds after the introduction of Tobi Oshitola, who was re-signed from Brimsdown Rovers on Tuesday lunchtime. Oshitola is now in his third stint at the club.Harlow Tn: Ian Joyce, Kenny Davis, Mark Taylor, Beckett Hollenbach, Lee Miles, Danny Chapman, Leon Lalite, Danny Hill (sub: Tobi Oshitola, 84), James Bunn, Jordan Fowler (sub: Shaun Gliddon, 56), Clark Akers.
